Hunting Camp Cooks Wanted – Lodge & Backcountry

J&J Guide Service is looking for experienced cooks to join our team for the 2025 season. This is an opportunity for dependable ambitious individuals who will complement our passion for hunting and the outdoors. Candidates must be customer-oriented and able to cater to our clients with home-cooked meals. We have several positions open from September through November.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve hearty meals for our hunting clients and staff.
  • Develop diverse menus, offering a variety of meals for hunting trips lasting 4 to 7 days.
  • Manage/procure food inventory, supplies, orginize and maintain a clean kitchen and dining area.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations for food handling and preparation.
  • Assist with daily general housekeeping duties and preparing camp for incoming guests.
  • Potentially assist with packing in, setting up, breaking down and packing out our backcountry camp.

Qualifications

  • Strong culinary skills and experience with meal planning for groups.
  • Ability to cook and prepare meals in a lodge or tent camp setting.
  • Knowledge of outdoor cooking methods and familiarity with camp cooking equipment (e.g., outdoor grills, portable stoves) is helpful.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability and resourcefulness to handle changing conditions and limited supplies.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Food safety certification is desirable.
  • Physical fitness and stamina are required for the demanding nature of the backcountry position.
